Stand Up to Militant Atheists in Public Society

In Atheists We Distrust
John R. Houk
© January 2012

Here is an irony about atheism: Atheists are self-deluded polytheists. Say what? That is probably the question of the religious person and atheist alike. Here is my reasoning of which I am totally aware will rile the atheists.

Dogmatic or militant atheists have a belief system. The human species is supreme. Science is the supreme foundation for asking the questions of life. Thus the deities of atheism are the human-self and science.

In denying the existence of God, the atheist is saying wittingly or unwittingly that he is his own god. Since the atheist is his own god only those that have authority over him have nominal control of their life (e.g. employer/management; an executive of local, State or Federal government – i.e. in the USA; the police or whatever socio-political allegiance that is chosen). Science is a deity because science is the knowledge fount for human understanding. That which science cannot measure brings into question the existence of whatever is unmeasurable. Questioning the existence of the unmeasurable is somewhat ludicrous because science utilizes mathematical theory to theorize the unmeasurable all the time and/or to develop some brilliant instrumentation the measure something that is discovered to exist.

My point is dogmatic/militant atheism has a stringent belief system that can easily be quantified as a set of religious values that denies the existence of a supernatural existence which for Christians would be God Almighty that is all and in all.

Most atheists tend to be Leftists (although remarkably I am aware of the existence of Conservative atheists). Hence Leftists are really big on the belief that Separation of Church and State is embedded in the U.S. Constitution in the sense of religious Liberty for all as well as religion cannot have influence or contact with local, State and Federal government. Frankly this interpretation of the Constitution is nowhere within the Document. Indeed, the First Amendment excludes government from establishing a State Church on the Federal level but DOES NOT exclude religion from being active in government. Because of religious Freedom all manner of “religion” then would be permitted to be active in the government apparatus such as prayer, worship on public land and influence in government.

Although I don’t have a problem personally with all manner of religions influencing government, the reality is the Founding Fathers had Christianity in mind when the word “religion” was used in the First Amendment. It is obvious from the writings of the Founding Fathers - whether they were Deists or not – that they considered Christian culture and Biblical values as the foundation for the rule of law in America.

It was not until the mid-1900s did the concept of keeping religion out of government began to be considered a Constitutional issue when Original Intent began to be ignored bowing to the Left Wing/atheist demand to keep Christianity out of anything to do with taxpayer money. You have to know that national mottos such as “In God we Trust” or “One nation under God” must drive Leftists and atheists nuts even the terminology is congruent to the Original Intent of the Founding Fathers, right?

This Leftist/atheist rage can be seen because some of them took their level of hatred for Christianity over a Billy Grahame Evangelistic Association meeting held at the Ft Bragg Army Base in North Carolina, The Evangelistic Meeting was not even held on the Base. YET atheists came out of the woodwork like cockroaches yearning to defile culture to protest the Gospel Message being made available to the Army soldiers if they so chose to attend. Note the key word “chose”. There was no coercion by the Army for the soldiers to show up. Atheists are claiming that soldiers were indeed forced to attend because of an Army Survey entitled Global Assessment Tool / Soldier Fitness Tracker. Atheists are up in arms of the portion of the survey called the Spiritual Fitness section. Somehow the existence of this mandatory survey meant that soldiers had to attend the Graham event at for Fort Bragg. Frankly that is pure propaganda. Attendance was voluntary and open to civilians. If the “Spiritual” section was a pass/fail survey, then I have to agree with the atheists. The First Amendment makes a pass/fail survey appear a bit dubious. On the other hand if the “Spiritual” section was a data collection tool, then I see nothing wrong with it.

The angry atheists decided to respond to a Gospel event by organizing an atheist-secular event. I don’t have a problem with that. No really I don’t! This is America and atheists wish equal time with Christians, I believe the First Amendment guarantees the equal representation. Much to the annoyance of atheists that freedom is as much religious Freedom as it is Free Speech. As I have said already, atheism is a religion without a god or supernatural theology.

I do have a problem that the planned atheist protest at Fort Bragg called Rock Beyond Belief is not there to proselytize atheism. The Rock Beyond Belief event’s purpose is turning out to be a bash Christianity event more than to evoke the praises of living an atheistic life. The atheist event’s about page states this:

Rock Beyond Belief is an ambitious project that will be putting on a free festival consisting of secular speakers and musicians, both big name and small. We are a small grass-roots outfit, but we have the backing of many major secular and military foundations. Currently we are focusing on a large-scale event that will be on the main post parade field on Fort Bragg. Eventually Rock Beyond Belief wants to spread the message to many other military installations.

We are not interested in just being a counter-event to the offensive Rock the Fort concert. We are also not interested in putting on an anti-christian, anti-religious, or anti-anything event. Rock Beyond Belief is A Day of Fun and Entertainment for the Rest of Us. (There is more pro-atheist information on the page)

The so-called entertainment includes a secular group that utilizes vulgar language in their lyrics aimed at crapping on the Christian faith. The group is called Aiden. Here is an example of Aiden lyrics aimed at Christianity I found at God and Country:

Christ died for sh–, and was a f—ing c–t

F— your God
F— your faith in the end
There’s no religion

Love how they burn your synagogues
Love how they torch your holy books

Faith whether Christian, Muslim, Jew
Still you all distort the truth
The death of fiction will save us all

Compare these lyrics to atheist event’s about page above: “We are also not interested in putting on an anti-christian, anti-religious, or anti-anything event.” You can watch the offensive anti-Christian Hysteria performed by Aiden HERE. God have mercy on the group’s soul and may God forgive them and transform them into the Kingdom of God’s dear Son.

Rock Beyond Belief is an example of what militant atheism is all about today. It is time to confront militant atheism with Militant Christianity. Militant Christianity is showing no fear in public or work about your faith. Militant Christianity is a willingness to share the Good News of Christianity even if atheists ridicule you. Militant Christianity is praying for those who despitefully use you and persecute you – like atheists. Militant Christianity is using the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God effectively – so read it and know it.

Many atheists think they know God’s Word from the Bible; however their understanding is dulled by disbelief. An atheist’s dull understanding is somewhat like the devil telling Adam and Eve that eating from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil will make you God, when the truth was obey God and continue in the Blessings and the Glory of God. So don’t be disheartened by crafty atheist. Stick to your faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of God being fully God and fully Human and ONE with the Father and Holy Spirit in entity. This drives atheists nuts.

Gingrich Certainly Qualifies as a Christian Values Candidate

Palin-Gingrich

Sarah Palin took on the criticism that Newt Gingrich is receiving from Establishment Republicans on her Facebook page yesterday. Palin compared the attacks as consistent to how the Left Wing Media assassinates the character of Conservatives. Of course the greatest negative ads are coming from Mitt Romney who has not exactly demonstrated a Conservative Republican exemplar in his days of Governor of Massachusetts. Whereas Newt Gingrich has spent his entire political career emphasizing Conservative fiscal policy and values. Yes I said “values”. Newt’s personal life may have been a screw-up in living those values; however he did espouse those values. Every single person supportive of Christian values has made a mistake contrary to Christian values to one degree or the other. Let him who is without sin cast the first stone!

Those that have made a mistake with Christian values and have not sought repentance but rather have sought self-justification are the people that should concern values voters.

Consistent Pro-Life Record

Newt Gingrich has consistently upheld a pro-life standard.  He had a consistent pro-life voting record throughout his twenty years in Congress, including his four years as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Gingrich pledges to uphold this consistent pro-life standard as president. (READ MORE)

Asking Wife For Divorce While She Was In The Hospital Dying of Cancer

Newt’s daughter recently wrote a column to set the record straight about this smear.

This story is a vicious lie.  It was first reported by a left wing magazine in the 1980s based on hearsay and has survived in left-wing chat rooms on the Internet until today.  It is completely false.

Recently, Newt’s daughter, Jackie Gingrich Cushman, wrote a column to set the record straight about this smear.  The column reveals that 1) It was her mother that requested the divorce, not Newt, and it was months before the hospital visit in question; 2) Her mother was in the hospital to remove a tumor, but it was benign, and she is still alive today; 3) Newt visited the hospital for the purpose of taking his two children to see their mother, not to discuss a divorce.  You can read it here.

Here are some excerpts from an article demonstrating Gingrich’s opposition to Same-Sex Marriage and abortion. The article asks about Newt’s three marriages in which Newt responds by saying as President he will enforce the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA):

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, the frontrunner for the Republican nomination for president in 2012, has vowed to support a federal constitutional amendment that would ban same-sex marriage.

Gingrich’s pledge came in a written response to conservative Iowa group The Family Leader’s “The Marriage Vow — A Declaration of Dependence Upon Marriage and Family.” The group’s 14-point pledge can be found at http://www.thefamilyleader.com/the-marriage-vow.

In addition to opposing same-sex marriage, the pledge also requests candidates vow “personal fidelity” to their spouse, appoint federal judges who are “faithful constitutionalists” and reject Islamic sharia law.

Gingrich, 68, has been married three times. …

In his response to The Family Leader, Gingrich also said he would “vigorously enforce” the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which bans federal recognition of same-sex marriage. Earlier this year, President Barack Obama directed the Justice Department to cease defending the constitutionality of the law.

Gingrich joined U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), Texas Gov. Rick Perry and former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) in signing The Family Leader’s pledge.

In regard to Gingrich’s response, Bob Vander Plaats, president & CEO of The Family Leader, said: “We are pleased that Speaker Gingrich has affirmed our pledge and are thankful we have on record his statements regarding DOMA, support of a federal marriage amendment, defending the unborn, pledging fidelity to his spouse, defending religious liberty and freedom, supporting sound pro-family economic issues, and defending the right of the people to rule themselves.”

Following is the full text of Gingrich’s response to The Family Leader: (Read the text at the Rock River Times)

Here are twelve quotes from Newt Gingrich’s book “Rediscovering God in America” courtesy of the website OnTheIssues.

On Education: Removing God from Pledge of Allegiance assaults our identity

There is no attack on American culture more destructive and more historically dishonest than the relentless effort to drive God out of America's public square. The 2002 decision by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals that the phrase "under God" is unconstitutional represents a fundamental assault on our American identity. A court that would unilaterally modify the Pledge of Allegiance as adopted by the Congress in 1954, signed by President Eisenhower, and supported 91% of the American people is a court that is clearly out of step with an America that understands that our unalienable rights come from God.

How can the judiciary, including the Supreme Court, overrule the culture & maintain its moral authority? It can't. The Supreme Court begins each day with the proclamation "God save the United States and this honorable Court." This phrase was not adopted as a ceremonial phrase of no meaning: it was adopted because justices in the 1820s actually wanted to call on God to save the US & the Court

On Government Reform: Insist on judges who understand our rights come from God

For most Americans, the blessings of God have been the basis of our liberty, prosperity, and survival as a unique country.

For most Americans, prayer is real, and we subordinate ourselves to a God on whom we call for wisdom, guidance, and salvation.

For most Americans, the prospect of a ruthlessly secular society that would forbid public reference to God and systematically remove all religious symbols from the public square is horrifying.

Yet, the voice of the overwhelming majority of Americans is rejected by a media-academic-legal elite. Our schools have been steadily driving the mention of God out of American history. Our courts have been literally outlawing references to God, religious symbols, and prayer.

We have passively accepted the judiciary's assault on the values of the overwhelming majority of Americans. It is time to insist on judges who understand that throughout our history, Americans have believed that their fundamental rights come from God and are therefore unalienable.

·         For most Americans, the prospect of a ruthlessly secular society that would forbid public reference to God and systematically remove all religious symbols from the public square is horrifying.

It is time to insist on judges who understand that throughout our history--and continuing to this day--Americans have believed that their fundamental rights come from God and are therefore unalienable.

On Government Reform: Our rights come from God, not from government

As the most consequential document of freedom in human history, the Declaration of Independence is the most important document held in the National Archives. It was influenced by the Magna Carta of 1215, a contract of rights between the British king and his barons generally regarded as the first step toward guaranteed liberties in Britain. However, the Declaration of Independence differs from the Magna Carta in one essential way: The Founding Fathers believed that our rights as human beings come from God, not from the kind or the state. Thus, they rejected the notion that power came through the monarch to the people; but rather, directly from God.

The Declaration of Independence contains four references to God: as lawmaker, as Creator, as Supreme Judge, and as Protector. The Declaration of Independence represents both the genesis and heart of American liberty. Our rights come from our Creator, not the government, sovereign, or King.

On Principles & Values: Constitution says freedom OF religion, not FROM religion

The first ten amendments to the Constitution are known as the Bill of Rights. Amendment I begins: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."

The language clearly prohibits the establishment of an official national religion, while at the same time protecting the observance of religion in both private and public spaces. In fact, two of the principal authors of the First Amendment, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, who were also our third and fourth presidents, respectively, both attended church services in the Capitol building, the most public of American spaces. During Jefferson's presidency, church services were also held in the Treasury building and the Supreme Court. Therefore, these Founding Fathers clearly saw no conflict in opposing the establishment of an official religion while protecting the freedom of religious expression in the public square.

On Principles & Values: Supreme Court hostile to religion, but building based on it

While recent years have seen increasing hostility from the courts to public displays of religion, the Supreme Court is filled with them. Notice that all sessions begin with the Court's marshal announcing: "God save the United States and this honorable court."

Throughout history, decisions of the Supreme Court have recognized that we are a religious nation. For example, in the 1952 case Zorach vs. Clauson, the court upheld a statute that allowed students to be released from school to attend religious classes.

The most striking religious imagery at the Supreme Court building is that of Moses with the Ten Commandments. Affirming the Judeo-Christian roots of our legal system, they can be found in several places: at the center of the sculpture over the east portico of the building, inside the actual courtroom, and finally, engraved over the chair of the Chief Justice, and on the bronze doors of the Supreme Court itself. There is also a sculpted marble depiction of Mohammad on the wall.

On Principles & Values: Creator as source of liberty is literally written in stone

The first rays of sun on our Nation's Capital each morning illuminate [the Washington Monument]. And there on the top is inscribed Laus Deo ("Praise be to God"). These simple words, for the eyes of heaven alone, are a fitting reflection of George Washington's conviction that liberty is owed to divine blessing.

[One can see in any tour of Washington DC] that our Creator is the source of American liberty--it is literally written into the rock, mortar, and marble of American history.

Source: Rediscovering God in America, by Newt Gingrich, p.130-131 Dec 31, 2006

On Principles & Values: Media-academic-legal elite imposes radical secularist vision

A media-academic-legal elite is energetically determined to impose a radically secularist vision against the wishes of the overwhelming majority of Americans. This outlook rejects the wisdom if the founding generation as outdated and treats the notion that our liberties come from God as a curious artifact from the 1770s but of little practical importance for more enlightened times.

This elite is especially hard at work in the courts and in the classrooms where it is attempting to overturn two centuries of American self-understanding of religious freedom and political liberty.

In the courts, we see a systematic effort by this elite to purge all religious expression from American public life. The ongoing attempt to remove the words "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance is only the most well-known of these mounting efforts.

Source: Rediscovering God in America, by Newt Gingrich, p.131-132 Dec 31, 2006

On Civil Rights: Five justices banned school prayer against American majority

The views by the media-academic-legal elite are completely at odds with the overwhelming majority of Americans. Once five justices decided we could not pray in schools or at graduation or could not display the Ten Commandments, we lost those rights. If five justices decide we cannot say that our nation is "under God," then we will also lose that right.

They are not only arbitrarily rewriting the law of the land but are usurping the legitimate rights of the legislative branch to make the laws.

Source: Rediscovering God in America, by Newt Gingrich, p.132-133 Dec 31, 2006

On Government Reform: Supreme Court has become permanent Constitutional Convention

The media-academic-legal elite have been successful to date at purging all religious expression from American public life. Their success is because for the last 50 years the Supreme Court has become a permanent constitutional convention in which the whims of five appointed lawyers have rewritten the meaning of the Constitution. Under this new, all-powerful model of the Court, the Constitution and the law can be redefined by federal judges unchecked by the other two coequal branches of government.

This power grab by the Court is a modern phenomenon and a dramatic break in American history. The danger is that the courts will move us from a self-understanding that we are one nation "under God", to a nation under the rule of the state, where rights are accorded to individuals not by our Creator, but by those in power ruling over them. History is replete with examples of this failed model of might-makes-right--Nazism, fascism, communism--and their disastrous consequences.

Source: Rediscovering God in America, by Newt Gingrich, p.132-133 Dec 31, 2006

On Education: Replace multiculturalism with patriotic education

In the classroom, the very concept of America is under assault. The traditional notion of our country as a union of one people, the American people, has been assaulted by multiculturalism, situational ethics, and a values-neutral model in which Western values and American history are ignored or ridiculed. Unless we act to reverse this trend, our next generation will grow up with no understanding of core American values. This will destroy America as we know it, as surely as if a foreign conqueror had overwhelmed us.

It is absolutely necessary to establish a firm foundation of patriotic education upon which further knowledge can be built; otherwise, Americans will lack understanding of American values & how important & great it is to be an American.

It is important to understand what makes America so unique and why generations of diverse people immigrated to this great land for freedom and opportunity. If Americans do not appreciate America, then how can they be ready and willing to defend her?

Source: Rediscovering God in America, by Newt Gingrich, p.133-134 Dec 31, 2006

The above quotations are from Rediscovering God in America: Reflections on the Role of Faith in Our Nation's History and Future, by Newt Gingrich (published October 10, 2006).

For all the criticism about Newt Gingrich’s past we must understand these are the thoughts of a man with Christian Values and a person that is a fiscal Conservative.

On the other hand Mitt Romney is not a Christian. He is a Mormon. Romney’s business experience is undoubtedly excellent; however his Conservative bona fides are definitely sketchy. Romney if elected will be a RINO that will make his goal to satisfy the Left and the Conservative Republicans. The cost will be the continued influence of the Left in Congress and a Leftist Activist Judiciary to continue to transform America away from its heritage by erasing the influence of Christianity.

Pastor Facing Execution

Yousef Nadarkhanai
Youcef (or variations e.g. Yousef) Nadarkhani is still facing execution in Iran for being a Christian Pastor and former Muslim. The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) believes public pressure has held Iran from allowing the execution to proceed. In an email attributed to Jordan Sekulow, the ACLJ believes keeping Nadarkhani’s case public via the social media. Sekulow suggests using Twitter by adding a Nadarkhani-ACLJ feed on your account for updates. I don’t Twitter, so if you are like use other social media you are with such as Facebook and so on.

ACLJ

Christian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani is facing new pressure to recant his faith in Jesus Christ.  Sources in Iran have reported to us that an Iranian judge is once again telling him to deny Christ or he will be executed.

Pastor Youcef is again refusing to recant.

He is still alive today because of international pressure on Iran – people worldwide raising their voices, demanding that his life be spared. We need to keep that pressure on, and the ACLJ is launching a new initiative.

From working closely with Pastor Youcef's Iranian attorney, we know that the more people who speak out for him, the more pressure is placed on Iran to release him. It is absolutely critical that more people learn about Pastor Youcef's plight.

Your voice has helped us get the White House, Secretary of State Clinton, Ambassador Rice, the United Nations and countless other elected officials and candidates for office to speak out for Pastor Youcef.

While we continue to work through legal and diplomatic channels to set him free, we are now turning even more to social media in order to build on a consistent and growing call to save Pastor Youcef's life and for Iran to set him free.

Take action. Lend your voice to Pastor Youcef by allowing the ACLJ to tweet once a day about Pastor Youcef from your Twitter account.

If you are not on Twitter, please share this opportunity to speak for this persecuted Pastor by forwarding this message and by using the "Like" buttons in this email. His life depends on it.

Thank you for standing with the ACLJ in defense of Pastor Youcef and persecuted Christians around the world.

Jordan Sekulow

ACLJ Executive Director

P.S. With increased pressure from Iran for Pastor Youcef to recant his faith, he needs your voice more than ever. Visit our new Nadarkhani web page and lend your Twitter account, your voice, to Pastor Youcef.

Radical Islam is Alive in America

Omar Hammami al Shabaab commander. from Alabama
John R. Houk
© January 26, 2012

ACT for America sent a link to a story from a local ABC News affiliate from the Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota area relating to homegrown Islamic terrorism. The affiliate is Channel 5 KTSP. Jennie Olson reports on young Muslim Americans joining the Somali Islamic terrorist group al Shabab (which is in tune with al Qaeda) recruiting young Muslim Americans of which many appear to be from Somali decent. The link was sent without comment by ACT. Undoubtedly this is because the story itself is self-evident of the dark side of Islam. In full disclosure Olson portrays this Muslim-American flocking to al Shabab of Somalia as aberrant to Islam; nonetheless pay close attention to the organizations these Muslim Americans were members of in their college student days.

There are a couple of Muslim Americans focused upon in the article: Jehad Mostafa and Omar Hammami. Jehad Mostafa was President of the Muslim Youth Council of San Diego (MYCSD). The Olson article reports without the “why?” that the MYCSD no longer exists. I found an about MYCSD at Islamic Finder. Islamic Finder says this about the MYCSD:

MYCSD (Muslims Youth Council of San Diego) is a group of youth dedicated to providing positive outlets for Muslim youth in San Diego. We organize youth camping trips, Fiqh Lessons and other activities. MYCSD also works closely with MSA (Muslims Students Association) at Mesa College and other at Universities to provide Muslims students with tutoring and counseling. MYCSD is dedicated to showing the world that Islam is a religion of peace and Muslims are a peaceful and productive part of society. (SlantRight: Bold emphasis Mine)

So the MYCSD worked closely with Muslim Students Union!

The Muslim Students Association (MSA) of the United States and Canada was incorporated in January 1963, when members of the Muslim Brotherhood came together at the University2 of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with the goal of “spreading Islam as students in North America.”3

Al-Ikhwan al-Muslimun, or the Muslim Brotherhood, was founded in 1928 by Hassan al-Banna. It is a rigidly conservative and highly secretive Egyptian-based organization dedicated to resurrecting true Islamic governance based on Sharia law. According to al-Banna, “It is the nature of Islam to dominate, not to be dominated, to impose its law on all nations and to extend its power to the entire planet.”5 The motto of the Muslim Brotherhood, as elucidated by al-Banna, is, “God is our objective, the Quran is our Constitution, the Prophet is our leader, jihad is our way, and death for the sake of God is the highest of our aspirations.”  This motto is often repeated by modern day Brotherhood figures around the world.

MSA promotes the Islamist ideology inspired by the Muslim Brotherhood, seeing itself as part of the global Islamic movement.  As Larry A. Poston, a theologian from Nyack College, explains in his essay, “Da’wa in the West”:

The Ikhwan [Brotherhood] can be credited with forming several of the Islamic organizations in America. MSA, formed in 1963, has often been a collaborative effort of Ikhwan members from Egypt, Iraq, Syria, and the Sudan.

The missionary philosophies of al-Banna and Mawdudi have entered the North American continent by at least three different routes…The second avenue has been the Muslim Student Association, undoubtedly the most activist of the da’wa organizations in America. Many of the founding members of this agency were members of or had connections to one or the other of the two organizations in question [the Muslim Brotherhood or Jamaat-i-Islami] and it was through these persons that the ideologies of al-Banna and Mawdudi were integrated into the goals and philosophies of the… [MSA].9 (From: Muslim Students Association: IPT Dossier; 39pp)

It is a pretty good educated guess that Jehad Mostafa was Islamized via radical indoctrination. Omar Hammami was the President of the MSA Chapter at the University of South Alabama. To become the President of an MSA Chapter Hammami was radicalized somewhere along the line to the MSA.

The Muslim Brotherhood is infiltrating America and transforming the part of Islam that is peaceful to the dark part of Islam that is purist and desires to emulate the Prophet-Founder of Islam in Mohammed. Old Mo is considered the perfect man to be imitated in Islam whether the Muslim is moderate or radicalized. So when a Muslim tells you Islam is peace and love and Mohammed is the perfect example to follow, that Muslim’s perception is an honest evaluation even for a Moderate. A few years ago it had been said that Moderate Islam represents 90% of Islam while the other 10% is radicalized to terrorism.

Somehow the 90% of Moderate Muslims have convinced themselves that the violent, bloody and female degrading examples of Mohammed were examples of peace and love. That perception is warped because it simply is not true!

Americans Rise in Rank Inside Somalia Jihadi Group

By: Jennie Olson
01/13/2012 1:35 PM
ACT for America sent:
1/26/2012 9:04 AM

The October al-Qaida video shows a light-skinned man handing out food to families displaced by famine in Somalia. But the masked man is not Somali, or even African - he's a Wisconsin native who grew up in San Diego.

A handful of young Muslims from the U.S. are taking high-visibility propaganda and operational roles inside an al-Qaida-linked insurgent force in Somalia known as al-Shabab. While most are from Minnesota, which has the largest Somali population in the nation, al-Shabab members include a Californian and an Alabaman with no ancestral ties to Somalia.

"They are being deployed in roles that appear to be shrewdly calculated to raise al-Shabab's international profile and to recruit others, especially those from the United States and other English-speaking countries," said Anders Folk, a former assistant U.S. attorney who prosecuted suspected al-Shabab supporters in Minnesota.

Officials fear another terrorist attack in East Africa. Kenya announced on Jan. 7 that it had thwarted attempted al-Shabab attacks over the holidays. The same day, Britain's Foreign Office urged Britons in Kenya to be extra vigilant, warning that terrorists there may be "in the final stages of planning attacks."

More than 40 people have traveled from the U.S. to Somalia to join al-Shabab since 2007, and 15 of them have died, according to a report from the House Homeland Security Committee. Federal investigations into al-Shabab recruitment in the U.S. have centered on Minnesota, which has more than 32,000 Somalis.

At least 21 men have left Minnesota to join al-Shabab in that same time. The FBI has confirmed that at least two of them died in Somalia as suicide bombers. A U.S. citizen is suspected in a third suicide bombing, and another is under investigation in connection with a fourth bombing on Oct. 29 that killed 15 people.

The star of the al-Qaida video was Jehad Mostafa, 30, a Californian who handed out food using the name Abu Abdullah al-Muhajir, according to the SITE Monitoring Service. The Washington Post reported last year that Mostafa served as top lieutenant to Saleh Nabhan, a senior al-Qaida operative killed by Navy SEALs in a helicopter attack inside Somalia in 2010.

Mostafa and the Alabaman, Omar Hammami, 27, are among about a dozen men who have been charged in federal court in the U.S. and are believed to be in Somalia.

The Americans appear to have been motivated by the Ethiopian army's intervention in Somalia in 2006, which they saw as an invasion. However, many experts believe it's only a matter of time before al-Shabab turns its wrath on the U.S., which in February 2008 designated it as a terrorist organization. The group killed 76 people in terrorist bombings in Uganda in 2010 during the World Cup final.

U.S. military commanders fear that Americans inside al-Shabab could train as bombmakers and use their U.S. passports to carry out attacks in the United States.

E.K. Wilson, the agent overseeing the FBI's investigation in Minneapolis, said he cannot comment on whether there is an outstanding order to capture or kill Americans fighting for al-Shabab. The FBI has publicly said the Americans should return to the U.S.

It's a mystery what caused Mostafa, a young man whom many remember as mild and friendly, to join an extremist group.

Mostafa grew up in San Diego and graduated from the University of California San Diego. Imam Abdeljalil Mezgouri of the Islamic Center of San Diego, the city's largest mosque, said Mostafa was a respectful teen and good student.

"He was a very quiet, very loving boy. He didn't talk too much but when he did talk, people liked him," said Mezgouri.

Mezgouri said Mostafa got married in his early 20s to a woman he believed was from Somalia.

Public records show Mostafa was the president of the now-defunct Muslim Youth Council of San Diego, or MYCSD. The former organization's Web site says the group was "dedicated to showing the world that Islam is a religion of peace and Muslims are a peaceful and productive part of society."

Mostafa's father, Halim Mostafa, a Kurdish Syrian, is a prominent figure in San Diego's Muslim community who has tried to build bridges with non-Muslims. He made a low-budget film released in 2008 called "Mozlym" to show how the true meaning of Islam is often lost amid the misconceptions of non-Muslims in America, according to the film's Web site.

Mostafa's father declined to talk.

"I just don't want to get involved. I'm really sorry I cannot say anything. God bless you," he said.

Edgar Hopida, a spokesman for the San Diego chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said Halim Mostafa believes in the most liberal interpretation of Islam and noted that "it's ironic if his son is involved with al-Shabab."

Mostafa is believed to have met American militant Anwar al-Awlaki about a decade ago at a San Diego mosque, according to The Washington Post. He went to Somalia in 2005. Federal officials declined to comment.

Mostafa was indicted in August 2010 on terrorism charges sts 43 Christian churches and not a single Islamic congregation in Daphne.

The son of a Christian mother and a Syrian-born Muslim father, Hammami attended Daphne High School. Then-assistant principal Don Blanchard recalls Hammami as generally well liked.

"Omar I would not classify as a troubled kid," said Blanchard.

Hammami enrolled at the University of South Alabama, where he was president of the Muslim Student Association. Following the 2001 terror attacks, Hammami spoke to the student newspaper.

"Even now it's difficult to believe a Muslim could have done this," The Vanguard quoted Hammami as saying.

Hammami went to Somalia in 2006. He was indicted in 2007 on terrorism charges, and faced more charges in 2009 for providing material support to terrorists.

Hammami, who wears a long beard and often raps in al-Shabab videos, released a nearly 50 minute lecture in October to commemorate five years with the group. He spouts hatred for "Western oppression." In the video, provided to AP by the IntelCenter, he compares his upbringing in America with his life in Somalia, where he says a microwave - "or even a normal oven" – is a rarity.

The English speaker serves as a recruiter and fund-raiser and is one of the top people in charge of al-Shabab's foreign fighters, Kohlmann said.

Hammami attends morning fighting drills and motivates new recruits, former al-Shabab fighter Abdi Hassan told AP. Hammami avoids mobile phones for fear intelligence agencies will trace him, and uses pseudonyms on the Internet.

"He sometimes cries with emotion, which makes others cry with him," said Hassan. He added, "Every new American is asked to convince his friends to come. The Americans' suicide attacks and speeches are meant to attract other Americans."

If a Muslim-American Organization Attacks ALAC then it’s Un-American

Speak No Islam

Shortly before Newt Gingrich’s decisive victory in South Carolina last week, he was asked a critical question by a Palmetto State voter: Would he support a Muslim candidate for president? …

Mr. Gingrich responded by saying it depends on a critical factor: Is the candidate “a modern person who happens to worship Allah”? Or is he “a person who belonged to any kind of belief in Shariah, any kind of effort to impose that on the rest of us”? Mr. Gingrich observed that the former would not be a problem, while the latter would be a “mortal threat.” The Georgia Republican went on to assert the need for federal legislation that would prevent Shariah from being applied in U.S. courts. (Frank Gaffney using the paraphrase to quote Newt Gingrich)

I use Newt’s thoughts on Sharia Law because he is my current choice for the GOP nomination for President. Way too many people consider this kind of talk as shooting from the hip. The reality is Newt is speaking the TRUTH!

Religious Freedom guaranteed by the First Amendment enables the free practice of Islam in America; however if that free practice includes the undermining of the U.S. Constitution and the government sworn to uphold the U.S. Constitution, then those parts of Sharia are not protected by the First Amendment. It should not take a rocket scientist to figure that out. Religious Freedom is not a constitutional right to overthrow the very Constitution that enables Religious Freedom.

When organizations like the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) protests a law like American Laws for American Courts (ALAC) then there is an agenda to invalidate the U.S. Constitution by submitting to some other kind of rule of law. In CAIR’s case that other law is Sharia Law.

CAIR and many like-minded Muslim-American groups that have an affiliation with the Radical Islam of the Muslim Brotherhood or the Wahhabi movement of Saudi Arabia have come after various American States that have passed laws designed to keep Sharia Law and foreign laws from being used as a precedent in State Courts if the law contradicts the U.S. Constitution or the State Constitution. The CAIR assault on the American legal system has had an unfortunate success rate because the term “Sharia Law” is a religious term; hence CAIR demands any law focused on Sharia is a law contrary to First Amendment Liberty guaranteeing Religious Freedom.

CAIR and Muslim apologists have successfully blinded American Justice to the political nature of Islam which included Sharia Law. In Islam there is NO separation of Mosque and State in either direction.

Sidebar: The Original Intent of the First Amendment is to keep the government out of Church/religion but not to prevent Church/religion from influencing government. That’s another essay.

In Islamic dominated nations Islam is the foundation for the rule of law even in Muslim nations that may assert they have a secular government. The Islamic rule of law is interwoven to any constitutional law in a predominantly Muslim nation; hence there is NO religious freedom, Free Speech, Free Press and other Liberties that are part of life under American rule of law.

The ever dwindling Christian population in Muslim nations cannot overtly practice or speak about their faith because that would be insulting to Islam. It is against Muslim law even to have a perception of an insult. A Christian cannot vocally or publicly say Jesus is the Son of God because that would contradict Mohammed. Contradicting Mohammed is a punishable crime that will result in a death sentence for a non-Muslim in a Muslim dominated nation. This concept that Islam is superior to all other theologies, ideologies and thoughts is Islamic Supremacism.

In America the concept that Islamic Supremacism is superior to the rule of law as established by Constitutional law is reprehensible. When CAIR attacks ALAC to defend Sharia Law then CAIR is attacking the U.S. Constitution.

I have known of CAIR’s agenda to allow Sharia Law in America for quite some time. I was made aware by the latest lawfare against America by an ACT for America email.

The Irony is ACT is reporting this CAIR attack from a new service known as PressTV. This news service is part of the State-run media of Iran. The PressTV version ACT uses as a source is the English version designed for America and the UK. Here is the sanitized About Page from PressTV:

About PressTV

PressTV takes revolutionary steps as the first Iranian international news network, broadcasting in English on a round-the-clock basis.

Our global Tehran-based headquarters is staffed with outstanding Iranian and foreign media professionals.

PressTV is extensively networked with bureaus located in the world's most strategic cities.

VISION

Heeding the often neglected voices and perspectives of a great portion of the world; Embracing and building bridges of cultural understanding; Encouraging human beings of different nationalities, races and creeds to identify with one another; Bringing to light untold and overlooked stories of individuals who have experienced the vitality and versatility of political and cultural divides firsthand.

PressTV is nothing but a propaganda tool for Iran. Thus Iran is providing a new article that is favorable to Radical Islam. Irony is CAIR is a Sunni Islam organization while Iran is representative of the smaller Shia-Twelver sect of Islam. There is usually nothing but acrimony between Sunni and Shia; however in the 21st century the Sunni-Shia acrimony is shelved in favor of hating America and Israel.

ACT reports that CAIR is coming after the people of the State of Virginia that is trying to pass their version of ALAC. Below is that ACT email.
